Help Desk Support Service Specialist – Senior

sponsible for providing second‐tier support to end users for PC server, mainframe applications, and hardware. Handles problems that the first tier of help desk support is unable to resolve. May interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problem. Simulates or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties. Recommends systems modifications to reduce user problems. Maintains currency and highest level of technical skill in field of expertise. Works helpdesk tickets as level 2 IT support for Customer staff and students. Serves as Helpdesk/Customer Support Specialist for PCs, office automation software, general office automation equipment, email, telecommunications, video-teleconferencing, LAN services, and specialized applications. Resolves user problems through helpdesk tickets or calls to the helpdesk. Attempts to resolve assistance calls immediately while on the phone with the customer and will utilize remote administration software tools to assist customers remotely. Responds within 24 hours to trouble/issue tickets within the helpdesk system. Follows up with customers within 48 hours of completion to ensure trouble/issue ticket has been resolved. Maintains a listing of current hardware and software, in their area of responsibility and provide recommendations when upgrades are due. Implements changes or improvements in area of responsibility.
